Lena Gunningberg is a Professor in Caring Sciences at the Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences, Uppsala University, Sweden. The position is divided in research, teaching and clinical work at the Quality and Patient Safety Department at Uppsala University Hospital. She was an Adjunct Assistant Professor at University of California San Francisco (UCSF) 2010-2013. Her research is focusing on improving nursing practice, patient safety and clinical outcomes, from a professional perspective, as well as from the patients´ perspective. Special interests are factors for successful implementation and sustainability. Most recently a continuous bedside pressure mapping system was evaluated with quantitative and qualitative methodologies in different settings. She has published about 70 papers in peer reviewed scientific journals.
